Engineers Australia’s 2009 President’s Prize has been awarded by Peter Godfrey to Barry Grear of Adelaide

The Engineers Australia’s 2009 President’s Prize has been awarded by Peter Godfrey to Barry Grear of Adelaide in recognition of his outstanding services to the engineering profession including his recent two-year presidency of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations.

In his career, Grear contributed extensively to education and training policies in southeast Asia and the Pacific and the WFEO. He was a driving force behind the establishment of the APEC Engineer Register.

Grear has been involved with Engineers Australia since 1965. In 1989, he was president of the South Australia Division of Engineers Australia and was national president in 1997. 

He has served as a chair for the APEC Engineer Coordinating Committee, RedR Australia and the National Engineering Registration Board.

In 2001, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia for services to engineering and to the community, through sporting, church and emergency services organisations.

Barry is a member of Rostrum Club 3 in South Australia.  Congratulations Barry on your achievement.
